Change Camp Hamilton was launched in March 2015 to bring residents, post-secondary education institutions, community organizations, and the City of Hamilton together in a conversation focused on community, partnerships, and collaboration—the goal being to achieve the following outcomes:
- Partnership Building: Providing community, partners, faculty, staff and students the opportunity to strategically discuss current and future collaborations.
- Clarity on Community Expectations of Student Participation: Facilitating dialogue to inform broader discussion around social action and volunteering.
- Clarity on Community Expectations of Campus Initiatives: Encouraging community members to provide input on community-campus initiatives.
In its inaugural year, Change Camp Hamilton brought together over 100 participants who developed a broad range of ideas to contribute to existing partnerships or initiatives, while also imagining new ones. These ideas were captured in a Change Camp Hamilton 2015 Conversation Report.
Change Camp Hamilton 2016 saw over 200 participants come together at 18 separate roundtables to discuss a range of topics, including how to move Our Future Hamilton, the City of Hamilton’s current visioning initiative, forward.
Change Camp Hamilton 2017 was supported financially by the McMaster Students Union and McMaster’s Office of Community Engagement.
